Is a Costco Murphy Bed Worth It? A Canadian Review

Costco is one of the first places Canadians look for a Murphy bed. The prices are clear, delivery is included, and Bestar backs its beds with a 10 year limited warranty. So is a Costco Murphy bed a good buy?

What Murphy Beds Does Costco Canada Sell?

A search for "murphy bed" on costco.ca on October 29, 2026 returned 75 results. Every wall bed on the first page was marked Online Only, so you order it on the website rather than buy it off a warehouse floor. Here are four popular ones:

• Bestar Oasis Premium Horizontal Queen Wall Bed: $1,349.99. It folds down sideways and is 84.7 inches wide, 20.3 deep and 66.6 tall closed.
• Bestar Boutique Queen Wall Bed: $1,599.99. A classic vertical wall bed, 64.6 inches wide, 20.3 deep and 87.9 tall closed.
• Key West Queen Wall Bed: $1,599.99. Vertical, 68.5 inches wide, 21.3 deep and 88.1 tall closed.
• Wall bed sets with side cabinets, desks or shelves run from about $2,000 to $3,300, from Bestar and Bed & Room Porter.

Double sizes start at $1,299.99. Prices above are the regular prices on each product page; Costco runs sales, so check the page on the day you buy.

What Comes With a Costco Murphy Bed?

Each Bestar product page lists what you get. On the queens we read:

• No mattress. You add a standard 60 by 80 inch queen. The Boutique takes one 8 to 12 inches thick and 60 to 90 lb; the Oasis takes 8 to 10 inches and 35 to 70 lb. No box spring or futon.
• All the install hardware and a mattress strap.
• A 10 year limited warranty from Bestar, with 2 years on the pistons and slats on the Boutique and Key West.
• A heavy box. The Boutique queen weighs 370 lb, the Key West 401 lb and the Oasis 406 lb.

How Hard Is a Costco Murphy Bed to Install?

This is the part most buyers miss. Bestar's pages say installation needs:

1. Attaching the bed to wood studs or masonry.
2. Taking off the baseboard behind it.
3. Drilling into the floor.
4. Two people, and a professional or qualified person for the install.

The vertical Boutique queen also needs a ceiling of at least 91.1 inches on that wall. That is normal for a wall bed, since the bed swings down from the wall and pushes hard on it. But it rules out many rentals, condos with rules about drilling, and basements with low ceilings or concrete you do not want to drill.

How Does Costco Deliver a Wall Bed?

Delivery is included in the price, but read what kind. Costco's pages say:

• Threshold delivery is included. It goes to your first dry area, such as a garage or covered porch. It does not include bringing it into the home, set up or assembly.
• Room of choice delivery costs extra. On the Oasis page it was $40 at checkout.
• Timing: about 10 to 15 business days on the Boutique page. For a Calgary postal code the estimate was late November 2026.

With boxes that add up to 370 to 406 lb, plan who will carry them from the garage to the room, often up or down stairs.

Does Costco Sell a Cabinet Bed?

Yes, one line. The Borealis Queen Cabinet Bed with Drawer & Mattress from Bestar was $1,279.99 after $400 off (was $1,679.99, for orders from October 26 to November 22, 2026). What its page lists:

• 62.4 inches wide, 25.6 deep and 40.6 tall closed; 81.7 inches long open.
• A tri-fold mattress included, a pull out drawer, two pull out nightstands and a motion LED light.
• A 10 year warranty, 5 years on the mattress.
• Its product page also carries the wall bed install note about anchoring to the wall, so ask Bestar what your room needs before you order.

How Do the Sizes Compare?

What the table shows:

• Horizontal wall beds are the slimmest. The Heidi Grey is 16.54 inches deep closed; the Bestar beds are 20.3.
• Vertical queens need tall walls. The Boutique stands 87.9 inches closed.
• Cabinet beds are short and a bit deeper. About 40 inches tall and 24 to 26 inches deep, so they fit under a window or a sloped ceiling.
• Open, they all need about the same room: roughly 68 to 92 inches out from the wall.

Where Does Costco Win, and Where Does a No-Drill Bed Win?

Costco wins on:

• Price. Its Bestar queen wall beds start at $1,349.99. Our lowest priced queen wall bed, the Heidi Grey, is $1,824.99.
• Delivery included to your garage or porch.
• Choice. 75 results, with sets that add desks, shelves and closets.
• Warranty length. 10 years limited from Bestar.

A no-drill cabinet bed wins on:

• No wall, no floor drilling. The Olivia and the Stow stand on their own, which suits renters, condos and concrete walls.
• Mattress included. Both come with a tri-fold queen mattress.
• Low and short. About 40 inches tall, so it works under a window.
• You can try one. The Olivia is on our Kelowna and Calgary floors. Costco's wall beds are sold online only.
• The Olivia cabinet has a lifetime warranty for factory defects.

Which One Is Right for You?

• You own, have studs, and want the lowest price: a Costco Bestar wall bed is a solid pick. Budget for a mattress and an installer.
• Someone sleeps there most nights: a wall bed with a regular queen mattress.
• You rent, cannot drill, or may move: a freestanding cabinet bed like the Olivia or Stow.
• Low basement ceiling: a horizontal wall bed or a cabinet bed, not a vertical queen.
• You want to see it first: visit a store with one on the floor.

Does Costco sell Murphy beds in Canada?

Yes, online only. On October 29, 2026 costco.ca listed 75 results for murphy bed, mostly Bestar wall beds, with queens from $1,349.99.

Do Costco Murphy beds come with a mattress?

The Bestar wall beds do not. You add a standard queen mattress, 8 to 10 or 8 to 12 inches thick depending on the model. The Borealis cabinet bed includes a tri-fold mattress.

Does Costco install Murphy beds?
