Murphy Bed & Wall Beds Canada

A murphy bed (also called a wall bed) is a real bed that folds vertically or horizontally into a cabinet or frame when not in use. Unlike a sofa bed or futon, you sleep on a proper mattress every night, and unlike a regular bed, it gives you the floor back every morning. Murphy beds are the classic answer for condos, guest rooms, home offices and basement suites where one room has to do two jobs.

Every bed on this page ships anywhere in Canada, with shipping from $49 to $249 depending on your order total. If you are comparing wall beds in Canada, the three things that decide it are your ceiling height, your wall width and whether you can drill into the wall at all. The answers below walk through each one.

Shop by size: twin murphy beds, double murphy beds or queen murphy beds.

Shop by style: horizontal murphy beds.

There are three main styles, and the right one depends on your wall space and ceiling height:

• Vertical murphy beds like our Wallie fold up lengthwise, the traditional style. They need the least wall width but the most ceiling clearance.
• Horizontal murphy beds like our Heidi fold sideways against the wall. They are ideal for rooms with low or sloped ceilings, or where you want to keep the wall above free for shelves and art.
• Cabinet beds like our Olivia hide a folding queen bed inside a freestanding cabinet the size of a dresser. No wall mounting at all, which makes them the renter-friendly option. Browse the full cabinet beds collection or read our cabinet bed vs murphy bed comparison for a side-by-side breakdown.

Still narrowing it down? Our guide to the top murphy beds in Canada compares the most popular models. If you are still choosing a style, our wall bed vs Murphy bed vs cabinet bed guide puts all three side by side, and our Murphy bed vs sofa bed guide covers the other common guest bed choice.

Our murphy beds use a standard mattress rather than the thin tri-fold mattress most wall beds require, so you can pick the comfort level you actually want (see each product page for maximum mattress thickness). The Olivia cabinet bed includes its queen memory foam mattress, comes with a 3-year warranty and a 90-day home trial, and sets up easily in about an hour. Every bed ships anywhere in Canada, with shipping from $49 to $249 depending on your order total, and 0% financing is available through Flexiti.

Forward Furniture is a real Canadian furniture store. Open and close the Olivia cabinet bed yourself at our Kelowna showroom at 2495 Enterprise Way Unit 105 or at our Calgary showroom. Shopping near Edmonton? See our Edmonton store page for hours and directions.

Vertical and horizontal murphy beds are anchored to the wall for safety in most sizes. If you rent or do not want to drill, choose the Olivia cabinet bed, which is fully freestanding.

The Heidi and Wallie murphy beds accommodate a standard mattress, sold separately, up to the maximum thickness listed on each product page. The Olivia cabinet bed includes a queen memory foam mattress.

Horizontal if your ceiling is low or you want the wall above the bed free; vertical if wall width is the constraint. Either way you get a real mattress and a room back every morning.

Yes. Because our murphy beds take a standard mattress, sleeping on one every night feels like sleeping on a regular bed.
